Boris bikes

No-ones using the Barclays Bike (aka Boris bikes) seems they aren't popular when its raining.

Chelsea Football

Ok it's not the best picture but this is the glow from the Chelsea football stadium at night. My neighbourhood goes crazy during games with big bellied, pasty white Englishmen downs pints and chanting at each other.

Gloomy London

Well I think summer may have officially left the building. Since I arrived back from Munich the weather has been a little chilly. Not that I mind, this summer was the best I've had in London.

Now we get to look forward to autumn leaves, endless X Factor on ITV, big coats, scarves and of course the start of a new football season...

Brompton Cemetery

The Brompton Cemetery is one of the big 7 Victorian cemeteries around London.

It's a really nice place to walk round on a sunny day. Beatrix Potter of Peter Rabbit fame got the names for the people in the books from some of the graves.

Travel

I absolutely love travelling and feel so lucky to be able to see so many interesting and beautiful countries while living in London.

The stamps in my passport are one of the things I'm most proud of in my life. Hopefully one day I will fill the entire thing!

Farewell Munchen

Auf Wiedersehen in München. Ich liebe dich!! Ich werde sehen uns im nächsten Jahr für das Oktoberfest

Arbeit Macht Frei

As the cultural part of my adventures to Munich I went to Dachau. Dachau is one of the many concentration camps that littered Germany during the Second World War. It is a very sobering place and one I hope we never ever see ever again. To think people would do that to their fellow human being is scary.

If you ever get the chance you should definitely go.

Englischer Garten

Munich has an huge park called the Englischer Garten which is designed on the types of wild parklands popular in 18th century England.

It's is one of the largest city parks in the world and had the River Isar running through it. And a German park would not be complete without a few beer gardens thrown in the mix.

People were out sunbaking when i was there and apparently you can swim in the river but the water was freezing.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is quite possibly my favourite time of the year. Pork knuckles, chicken, potato dumplings, bratwurst and of course steins of beer are everywhere!

I like to refer to it as Disneyland for drunks.

A bit of USA in the UK

Nothing like having American style ribs in the UK. To be fair, they are freaking delicious. Can I hear a holla for Bodeans....

Tube time

Postings from my tube ride home. Not quite as packed as normal.

iPad love

Is it possible to fall in love straight away...why yes it is. First I fell in love with my iPhone, then the iPad came along.

Why do I love it, it's just so handy, sure you can't type lengthy emails on it and it has no webcam. But it's great for surfing the web, watching television and even reading! I never thought I'd use it for books but it have, however I do much prefer a paperback.

Monday

This perfectly sums up my feelings for Monday in general.

Poor Monday...it gets such a bad wrap.

Subway - eat fresh

The perfect hangover meal. Yes I smashed myself on the weekend. Nothin' unusual there...

Kangaroo?

Naturally something you would take when out in a nightclub. A kangaroo!

Pizza!

Is there anything better than a pepperoni pizza? Not in my books.

Wednesday 8 September 2010

Sushi!

I absolutely love sushi but I have to say the sushi here in London is overpriced.

Tube strike saga

London faces losses of £50 billion due to tube strike!! Well this is what most of the papers were screaming today anyway. Fortunately (or should that be unfortunately) my station was open for service and I even got a seat which is a very rare occurrence. As you can see by the picture above there aren't many people travelling home from work today as most seemed to stay at home.

I can't say I agree or disagree with the strike, but I do know I'd be annoyed if I was possibly losing my job like some TfL staff.

What I see at work

If, a few years back, I had been told by someone that I would be seeing Westminster Abbey everyday before work, I would have laughed at them.

Now I get to see it every day and it still amazes me. It truly is spectacular, even with all the tourists crawling all round it. Mind you I shouldn't say anything bad about tourists as not that long ago I was one of them...

Earls Court Road

Earls Court Road - home to one of the last remaining Police boxes / Tardis. Every Doctor Who fan who passes through stops for a picture with the Tardis.

ECR is also home to Soho Gyms who infamously secretly photographed Princess Diana working out there when she lived nearby. The gym is also conveniently located above Burger King!

Saturday afternoon on Old Brompton Roaf

Old Brompton Road on a sunny Saturday afternoon. My beloved Pembroke pub is on the corner.

When I first moved here it was the Colherne - a notorious gay leather pub frequented by Freddie Mercury back in the day. It's since been renovated (for the better) and had a name change, but is still full of gay fellas. I've spent many a day/night in there. Good times!

Regents Park at the Open Air Theatre. Watched the play 'Into
The Woods'.

I have to say this is by far one of the best theatre experiences I've ever had. There is something amazing about watching a play in a park in London during the late summer evening.
